Recent declines in gold and silver prices in cities including Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Surat, ahead of the upcoming festivals and wedding season, have sparked strong enthusiasm among customers and a surge in purchases.
People are already making advance bookings and pre-bookings for auspicious occasions such as Pushya Nakshatra, Dhanteras and Diwali. Customers are also increasingly exchanging old gold for new purchases, while demand for nine-, 14- and 18-carat jewellery is particularly strong among young people. Traders, meanwhile, expect gold prices to cross ₹2 lakh within six months.
According to jewellers, the fall in gold prices to ₹1.45 lakh and silver prices to around ₹1.90 lakh, due to global conditions, the dollar index and market correction, has created an excellent buying opportunity for customers. Sales are expected to increase by 10% to 30% in most cities this year, while prices are also considered highly likely to rise again in the future due to international trends.
Gold worth ₹20-25 crore to be pre-booked in Vadodara Customers in Vadodara are pre-booking gold and silver ahead of the upcoming festivals and wedding season. As many as 15% of customers are booking gold in advance before the festive and wedding seasons so that they can buy it at the current lower prices.
