MUMBAI Tanush Kotian once again came to Mumbai’s rescue, claiming seven wickets on an unresponsive surface to bowl Railways out for 259 and secure a valuable first-innings lead in the Ranji Trophy Group D fixture. Fresh from an 11-wicket match haul against Haryana last week, the off-spinner continued his impressive run at the Brabourne Stadium on Wednesday.
Mumbai looked to build on its advantage as Angkrish Raghuvanshi (79, 85b, 10x4, 1x6) and Divyaansh Saxena (68 batting, 114b, 6x4) took the attack to Railways. The openers added 146 runs, with both scoring half-centuries, before Toufik Mondal struck thrice to trigger a late wobble.
Mumbai ended the day at 174 for 4, with an overall lead of 311. Kotian’s effort was particularly impressive given the lack of assistance from the surface. Recently named in India A’s squad for the Rising Stars Asia Cup, he underlined his value to Mumbai.
