FIR on inebriated man for verbally abusing, filming traffic police on duty in Mumbai

Mumbai: Goregaon Police registered an FIR against an inebriated man after he verbally abused an on-duty traffic policeman and filmed him.

The incident occurred at Oxford Ram Mandir Junction early on Nov 2. The Goregaon police registered an FIR based on the statement of constable Deepak Bagal (47), attached to the Goregaon traffic division.

Bagal was taking action against illegally parked vehicles blocking traffic movement when the accused approached in an auto. He yelled at the cop and claimed that he had been penalised at Kurar (in Malad) last month. While the cop told him that he was not connected with the ongoing no-parking drive, the man continued to argue and verbally abuse him.

The man also filmed the cop and threatened to post the video on social media to defame police personnel. Eventually, his wife, who was accompanying him in the autorickshaw, took him away before other policemen could arrive.
