Mumbai weather is expected to remain hot and humid on Sunday, October 18, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting dry conditions across the city and neighbouring areas over the next 24 hours. No significant rainfall is expected in Mumbai during the forecast period, while isolated parts of Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg remain under a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning, rain and gusty winds.
The IMD’s Mumbai weather bulletin dated October 18 recorded a minimum temperature of 35.2 degrees Celsius at Colaba, which was above normal. Santacruz recorded a minimum temperature of 25.6 degrees Celsius, also marginally above its normal level, according to the bulletin.
The forecast indicates a sharp contrast within the Konkan region. Mumbai and its surrounding areas are expected to experience dry and humid conditions, while Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg may see thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds. The IMD said wind speeds in isolated locations could reach 30-40 kmph.
The yellow alert covers parts of the Konkan region and signals the possibility of localised weather disruptions rather than a citywide spell of severe weather. For Mumbai residents, the immediate forecast points to continued heat and humidity without significant rain to ease conditions over the next 24 hours.
