SURAT : Surat’s textile research sector is stepping beyond conventional fabrics and entering the growing medical technology industry, with the Man-Made Textiles Research Association (MANTRA) commencing international-standard testing of materials used in orthopaedic medical products for a Rajasthan-based manufacturer.
MANTRA has partnered with Udaipur Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. to conduct technical testing of polyester knitted fabrics and yarns used in manufacturing synthetic casting bandages. The initiative marks an expansion of the Surat-based organisation’s research and testing services into medical textiles and the MedTech sector, while extending its industrial reach beyond Gujarat.
Udaipur Healthcare manufactures orthopaedic products, including synthetic casting bandages, Plaster of Paris bandages, under-cast padding, cotton crepe bandages and stockinettes. Its synthetic casting bandages are used to immobilise fractured limbs during treatment.
