AHMEDABAD/SURAT: A sharp correction in gold and silver prices has added fresh sparkle to Dhanteras celebrations across Gujarat, with jewellery markets in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot...
According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), 24-carat gold declined by ₹3,106 per 10 grams to approximately ₹1.41 lakh, while silver dropped by ₹5,437 per kg to ₹1.81 lakh. A day earlier, gold was priced at around ₹1.44 lakh and silver at ₹1.87 lakh.
Interestingly, silver has witnessed a cumulative decline of nearly ₹49,000 during the year, creating fresh buying opportunities for customers.
In Surat, buyers are moving beyond symbolic purchases and planning their jewellery shopping more strategically.
Last year, prices were extremely high, so I bought only a token amount. With prices coming down this time, I have made a more substantial purchase. I even placed advance bookings and am shopping with the future in mind,” said customer Shivani Niraj Nanavala.
