Dengue cases are rising in Ahmedabad and Surat, while the situation in Vadodara remains relatively under control, according to doctors and hospital data.
Ahmedabad recorded 496 dengue cases within the corporation limits between September 1 and 20. In Vadodara, government hospitals reported 50 cases over 15 days with 24 cases at Sayaji Hospital and 26 at Gotri GMERS Hospital.
The health department has, however, increased vigilance after a nine-year-old girl from Chota Udaipur, who was brought to Sayaji Hospital last Wednesday (23 Sept), died of dengue.
Private hospitals in Vadodara are reporting only one or two dengue patients a day. Doctors said, “Most patients have mild symptoms and can be treated through the outpatient department without hospitalisation.”
He added, “The patient who died was a girl from Chhota Udepur. If dengue cases increase in the coming days, the hospital administration is prepared to handle the situation.”
