Due to strong winds and adverse weather in Mumbai, landing the flights there was not possible, so air traffic control diverted around 8 flights to Surat airport as an emergency measure. They included 5 IndiGo flights and 3 Air India Express flights.
All these aircraft have now landed safely and been parked at Surat airport. They will depart only after weather conditions improve in Mumbai. Meanwhile, the Surat Airport Authority has ensured all necessary arrangements, including drinking water and refreshments, so that the passengers who arrived unexpectedly do not face any inconvenience.
