The nearly 1.3km flyover from Dindoshi court to Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, or Film City, is expected to open for traffic by October 15. The flyover is part of the 12.2km Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project. Officials are expediting the remaining works ahead of the proposed opening.
The main civil work on the flyover has been completed. All 31 piers and 30 spans have been constructed. Installation of girders, casting of the deck slab and construction of approach roads on both sides have also been completed as part of the project work.
A load test is scheduled for the second week of October to assess the flyover’s safety and carrying capacity. The BMC said the structure would be opened for traffic after the necessary technical procedures are completed. The test is part of the work planned before the proposed October 15 opening.
Several works remain to be completed before the flyover can open. These include finishing work, road markings, signage, electrical poles and installation of noise barriers. Officials have been directed to expedite these remaining works to meet the expected traffic opening timeline.
