MUMBAI: Several parts of Mumbai, including Mulund, Kurla and Andheri, witnessed sudden spells of rain on Tuesday evening after a hot and humid day, with the showers also triggering waterlogging in parts of the city.
Neighbouring areas in Thane also recorded rain activity.
Aarey Colony in Goregaon recorded the highest rainfall, receiving 64 mm between 6pm and 8pm. Powai recorded 59.4 mm, while Juhu received 55.4 mm. Andheri East recorded 50.2 mm and Versova 45.4 mm during the two-hour period.
Dharavi recorded 14 mm, while other locations across the city received between 8.8 mm and 10.8 mm of rain during the same period.
The rain came shortly after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a nowcast warning for Mumbai at 7pm, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light rain and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph at isolated places.
