The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has floated tenders for two foot overbridges that will directly connect stations on the Metro 6 line with nearby suburban railway stations.
Under the plan, Vikhroli metro station will be linked to Kanjurmarg railway station, while Jogeshwari metro station will be joined with Jogeshwari railway station.
The Metro 6 corridor, being developed by the MMRDA, runs from Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli.
The tender, issued on 16 October, has been divided into two parts. Part A covers the 740-metre bridge between Vikhroli metro station and Kanjurmarg railway station, and Part B covers the 700-metre bridge at Jogeshwari. The two structures are estimated to cost about Rs 184.7 crore.
The MMRDA intends to wrap up the bidding process quickly and begin construction at the earliest. Both bridges are expected to be ready for use within 24 months of the tender being approved.
