An analysis of DGVCL data shows that industrial power consumption fell by 6.26 crore units on the strike day compared with normal levels.
With a large number of factory owners shutting their units, electricity demand across industrial areas dropped significantly. On September 24, total electricity consumption stood at 130.7 crore units, including 98.39 crore units consumed by industrial establishments.
Following the weavers' strike on Sunday, overall consumption fell to 123.15 crore units, while industrial consumption dropped to 92.13 crore units.
