Police in Jabalpur have arrested two wanted men after months of pursuit across states. Both are accused of serious crimes and evaded capture by repeatedly changing their appearance and location. Tarun Patel, wanted in 19 cases, disguised himself variously as a labourer and beggar. Praveen Rajak, accused of attempted murder, assault, bomb blasts and illegal extortion, posed as a holy man. Both men reportedly fled whenever they spotted a Jabalpur-registered vehicle—a tell-tale sign of police surveillance.
Ranjhi police finally apprehended Patel in Surat, Gujarat, on 23 August. Rajak was arrested in Ujjain. Both men are now in police custody.
