Surat: The education department has sanctioned several new infrastructure projects for Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU), including a new bungalow for the vice-chancellor at an estimated cost of Rs 5.10 crore. The tender for the bungalow is expected to be floated soon.
According to sources, the existing bungalow is around 20 years old and has required frequent repairs in recent years.
“We have had to spend a considerable amount on repairs to the old bungalow. There have also been waterlogging issues on the bungalow campus. The existing structure lacks several amenities and has limited space, which will be addressed in the new building. It will have a modern design,” a VNSGU official said.
Apart from the bungalow, the government has sanctioned a new administrative building and a sports complex at a combined cost of Rs 80 crore.
The sports complex will have indoor and outdoor facilities, besides infrastructure for para-athletics.
