In an official communication addressed to Dr. Pankaj Gandhi, Joint Director of the Department of Textiles, Government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, sought information on MANTRA’s activities and brochures outlining its vision and key areas of work, including research and development, textile testing, Centres of Excellence and technical consultancy.
The request opens up possibilities for inter-state collaboration, potentially bringing Surat’s specialised textile knowledge to one of India’s major textile manufacturing hubs.
MANTRA’s capabilities in textile testing and characterisation, applied research, technical textiles, textile waste management and sustainable manufacturing could support industries seeking better product quality, resource efficiency and global competitiveness.
The development also highlights the growing importance of research institutions in translating government policies into practical industrial solutions. As India seeks to strengthen its position in global textile markets, collaboration between state governments, industry clusters and specialised institutions can help accelerate innovation and technology adoption.
