Surat to Host 89th Edition of Fit India Sunday on Cycle on September 6 with ‘Drug-Free Youth’ Message

New Delhi, 04 September (H.S.): Furthering Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Drug-Free Youth for Viksit Bharat”, the 89th edition of Fit India Sunday on Cycle will be held in Surat on September 6. The initiative aims to encourage young people to stay away from drugs and embrace a healthy and active lifestyle through fitness, sports and community participation.

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will lead the cycling campaign in Surat. Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi will also participate in the initiative.

Dr. Mandaviya said, “Taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for Drug-Free Youth for Viksit Bharat, this edition of Fit India Sunday on Cycle is dedicated to inspiring young people to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy and active lifestyle. Through Sunday on Cycle and other fitness activities, Fit India is helping nurture a generation that is healthy, confident and disciplined, and committed to building a developed India.”

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of Independence Day, the Prime Minister had described drug abuse as a major challenge for the country and its youth. Taking this message forward, the initiative will promote sports and fitness as effective tools for creating awareness against drug abuse.
