Surat School Circular Pulls Teachers from Classrooms to Fill Tiranga Yatra Surat's municipal primary school teachers have been ordered to leave their classrooms and mandatory headcount registers behind today to line the streets for a municipal patriotic march.

According to an official directive issued by the Nagar Primary Education Committee , all fellow teachers, knowledge assistants, and two assistant teachers per school must gather at the Y Junction on Dumas Road by 5 pm. The directive forms part of the state-sponsored Har Ghar Tiranga campaig n. With heavy showers sweeping across Surat, teachers must report an hour ahead of the 6 pm procession to register their mandatory attendance with assigned nodal officers.

The forced attendance has triggered sharp resentment among educators, who claim their primary duty to young learners is being systematically eroded.

For months, staff across Surat’s civic schools have voiced frustration over an endless stream of administrative assignments. Teachers find themselves regularly deployed for voter list updates as Block Level Officers (BLOs), demographic surveys, door-to-door censuses, and endless online data entry work.

Educators point out that new administrative circulars routinely land on their desks before they can finish their previous non-academic assignments, severely disrupting classroom lesson schedules.
