Surat (Gujarat) [India], September 29: Ganeshotsav is not just a festival of devotion and faith, but also a powerful medium to spread positive thoughts and the message of humanity. With this noble objective, Donate Life, an NGO working for over two decades in the field of organ donation, along with Vaastav Group, organized a unique ‘Angdaan-Jeevandan’ (Organ Donation – Life Donation) themed Ganesh Pandal from 14th to 24th September at Vaastav Group-Donate Life Ganesh Pandal, Near Bejanwala Complex, Tarwadi Chowkdi, Rander Road, Surat.
The pandal was divided into five sections:1. Awareness Section: Devotees were educated through videos on why organ donation is needed, which organs and tissues can be donated after brain death and natural death, and the entire process of donation. A special ‘Donor Wall’ was created as a tribute to all organ donors since 2006, with their names, dates, and a star – symbolizing that the donor has become a star and continues to shine in this world.
2. Counseling Section: The most challenging part of organ donation is counseling and preparing the family. This section effectively demonstrated how counseling of a brain-dead person’s family is done.3. Salute Section: This section displayed the emotional moments of the Guard of Honour given to organ donors and explained to all devotees why donors are saluted.
