As the festive season kicks off, Utran Police in Surat busted a unit allegedly manufacturing fake cow ghee under the ‘Saahas’ brand. About 1,694 kg of suspected adulterated ghee has been seized and three individuals in connection with the case have been arrested.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at Godown No. 18 in Madhav Campus on Abrama Road, within the jurisdiction of Utran Police Station. The operation was carried out in the presence of food safety officials.
During the raid, along with the 1,694 kgs of suspected adulterated ghee, the police sized vegetable ghee (Dalda), soybean oil and machinery allegedly used in the manufacturing process. The total value of the seized goods was estimated at Rs 18 lakh.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sunny Kalpeshbhai Modi, Kishan Manojbhai Modi and Kalpeshbhai Sundarlal Modi and are originally from Deesa in Banaskantha district and were residing in the Amroli area of Surat, according to the police.
