Surat court denies anticipatory bail to residential doctor in suicide abetment case

<p>Ahmedabad: A Surat court has denied anticipatory bail to a suspended senior resident doctor accused of abetting her junior to suicide recently. The court held that since there are allegations under atrocity act, the anticipatory bail cannot be granted.</p><p>Additionally, the court has said citing detailed arguments by concerned parties on merit of the case that "it is necessary to note that in this case, a promising young person who had pursued medical studies up to the level of becoming a doctor has died by suicide.

</p><p>On August 9, 30-year-old Harsh Pandya, a resident of Modasa in Aravalli district, died allegedly by suicide following mental and physical harassment and ragging by four of his senior resident doctors at Surat Government Medical College. Pandya was a first year PG Microbiology department student.
