SURAT: Has Navratri, a festival rooted in devotion, cultural traditions and social equality, become a playground for commercial profiteering? Raising serious concerns over the organisation of...
In a representation to the authorities, Naik said devotees had approached him through social media and other channels, complaining that expensive entry passes were putting commercial Garba celebrations beyond the reach of ordinary people. He argued that a festival dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga should not become an exclusive affair accessible only to those who can afford premium-priced passes.
Navratri is a sacred festival dedicated to the worship of Mataji and is deeply intertwined with the pride of Hindu Sanatan culture. The celebrations must remain accessible to all sections of society rather than being driven by profiteering,” Naik said in his representation.
Naik has urged the government to consult event organisers and establish guidelines for transparent ticket pricing, affordable entry and concessional passes wherever possible.
