Reported by Bhaskar English
The decision is aimed at making primary health services faster, stronger and more accessible to residents. Along with approving the new posts, the state government has also renamed the existing ‘Gujarat Urban Health Project (Surat)’ as ‘Urban Health (Surat)’.
The new name will be used in official records and administrative transactions following directions from the Health and Family Welfare Department and the Additional Director.
Of the 189 posts, 94 are for Female Health Workers and 95 are for Male Multi Purpose Health Workers. The posts will be filled on a regular basis under the prescribed pay scale of ₹19,900 to ₹63,200.
Selected employees will receive a fixed salary of ₹26,000 per month during the first five years, providing a permanent employment opportunity for eligible candidates, particularly for male Multi Purpose Health Workers.
The Gujarat government had approved 250 new health worker posts for municipal corporations across the state, with Surat receiving the largest share of 189 posts.
