The agreements were signed during the prestigious Maroc in Mode (MIM 2026) and the 4th Morocco International Yarn and Fabric Sourcing Show 2026 in Casablanca. A delegation led by SGCCI president Ashok Jirawala and vice-president Ravi Raj Desai finalised the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with two prominent Moroccan business organisations.
The first agreement, a five-year bilateral MoU, was signed with the Association Marocaine des Industries du Textile et de l’Habillement (AMITH), Morocco’s apex textile and apparel industry body. Jirawala signed the agreement with AMITH president Anas Al Ansari.
The partnership will establish a joint committee to review bilateral textile trade opportunities at least once a year. It will also facilitate discussions on customs procedures, regulations and rules of origin.
A key objective is to encourage Indian entrepreneurs to invest in Morocco’s upstream textile sectors, including spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing and finishing. Both organisations will also promote each other’s textile exhibitions.
