Reported by Indian Retailer
The Surat facility marks ICA-GemLab’s first laboratory in the Indian subcontinent and forms part of the organisation’s expansion strategy to strengthen its presence in key global gems and jewellery sourcing markets. The laboratory will operate in coordination with ICA-GemLab’s headquarters in Bangkok and its existing offices in Dubai and Hong Kong.
As one of the world's leading centres for diamond cutting, polishing, and jewellery production, Surat plays a critical role in the global gems and jewellery supply chain. The new laboratory aims to provide testing and reporting services closer to the manufacturing and trading stages before products enter retail channels. ICA-GemLab is affiliated with the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), a global trade body representing the coloured gemstone industry. The Surat laboratory will follow the reporting standards, analytical procedures, and professional practices adopted across the ICA-GemLab network.
