Reliance truck carrying goods worth ₹27 lakh stolen: Man accused of theft found murdered with throat slit

It was Dhanteras. The entire Gujarat was preparing to celebrate Diwali. Amid the festive atmosphere, people in Surat’s GIDC were continuing to work despite the holiday mood.

Meanwhile, a truck bearing registration number AP-11-X-5907 was loaded and preparing to leave Reliance company premises. The trailer was carrying 640 bags of polypropylene, or plastic granules, weighing around 16 tonnes in total. The market value of the consignment was around ₹19.93 lakh. The goods had to be delivered to a factory in Daman.

Three other similar trucks were also headed to Silvassa, Hyderabad and Tirupati. Twenty-eight-year-old Anwarkhan Nizamuddinkhan, a hardworking driver, was behind the wheel of the truck headed to Daman.

Employed with PRC Logistics Private Limited, Anwarkhan was known for his loyalty towards his work. At around 9pm, he got the gate pass punched at the factory gate and drove the truck towards the highway to Daman.

Two days later, the main office in Vapi called the transport office in Hazira. Puran Singh answered the phone and heard a voice from the other side.
