Between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. on September 13, rainfall was recorded in 84 talukas. Dediapada and Vagra received more than 1.5 inches, the highest rainfall recorded during this two-hour period, while 18 talukas received more than half an inch.
After a long gap, more than 100 talukas in central and south Gujarat received rain on Saturday (12 Sept). However, Saurashtra-Kutch continues to remain largely dry, with farmers waiting for rainfall.
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to extremely heavy rain today, issuing a red alert for two districts, an orange alert for six districts and a yellow alert for 12 districts.
The state has received 75% of its average seasonal rainfall so far. However, 25 districts are still facing rainfall deficits ranging from 1% to 88%.
With heavy rain forecast across the state over the next two days, there are hopes that the rainfall deficit will be reduced.
