Surat: Close to 250 parents gathered outside Maheshwari Vidhyapeeth in Surat’s Piplod area on Thursday morning, protesting the school’s decision to admit new students to the morning shift while allegedly failing to honour its assurance to transfer their children from the afternoon shift after Class 5.
The parents said they had opted for afternoon-shift admissions based on the school’s assurance that their children would eventually be moved to the morning shift. However, the decision to open morning-shift admissions to new students without accommodating their children triggered resentment.
The protesters raised slogans such as “We want justice” and accused the school management of refusing to address their concerns. They also expressed displeasure over the principal’s behaviour.
More than 100 parents met the school authorities on Wednesday, but the management called its decision final and asked us to take transfer certificates (TCs). We admitted our children here for their education, not to seek TCs. We will take the matter to the education department in Gandhinagar if necessary,” a parent said.
The parents alleged that the school had failed to honour its commitment and said they would continue their protest until their concerns were addressed.
