Nasir Nagar Demolition Case: Those Responsible For Irregularities Will Face Action, says Gujarat HC

The Gujarat High Court questioned the police and Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) over the action taken following the Nasir Nagar mega-demolition case , while the Advocate General, who had earlier appeared for the corporation, remained absent during the latest hearing.

The petitioners told the court that the alternative accommodation provided to them was in a dilapidated condition and was not suitable for habitation.

During the hearing, Justice Nikhil Kariel questioned the police department about the action taken in the matter. The court also sought details from the corporation regarding the steps taken for the affected residents.

After examining the corporation's response, the court observed that it was not satisfied with the reply submitted by the civic body .

The court also directed the responsible SMC officials to take appropriate action and cautioned that accountability would be fixed if any irregularities were established.
