Murder case accused dies by suicide in Lajpore jail: Hanged himself a day after court pronounced sentence; body sent for post-mortem

There has been widespread shock after Shambhulal Ada, an accused imprisoned at Surat's Lajpore Jail in a murder case, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the jail bathroom today, a day after a court sentenced him.

The jail administration was thrown into action after the accused took this extreme step immediately after the sentence was announced. After being informed of the incident, Sachin police promptly reached the spot, sent the body for a post-mortem examination and began further legal proceedings.
