As part of the investigation, police conducted a crime scene reconstruction. The accused were taken to the spot and their residential society, where police made them walk through the area as part of the reconstruction proceedings.

Police also questioned residents about whether Deep had allegedly harassed or intimidated anyone in the society.

According to details that emerged during the investigation, the accused allegedly rented cars from vehicle owners and initially paid the rent regularly for the first two months to gain their trust.

Police allege that the accused then sold the vehicles to bootleggers in other states for financial gain. When owners later demanded their vehicles back, the accused allegedly threatened and assaulted them.

Deep alias Golden had previously appeared in an audio recording in which he allegedly claimed to have connections within the Surat Crime Branch while collecting money at gambling dens. He had also allegedly used abusive language against the local police administration.
