Met in Rajasthan, called to Surat with marriage promise: Bihar woman abandoned by lover after six months; A

The woman had been living with a young man in Surat for around six months. After sending her to her hometown on the pretext of his grandmother's death, the man allegedly vacated their rented room and disappeared.

The woman was found sitting alone in a distressed condition for more than an hour beneath the Gajjar Building in Krishnanagar, Ichhapor.

A local resident noticed her condition and tried to speak to her. When she was unable to explain her situation, the citizen immediately contacted the 181 Women Helpline.

After receiving the call, the Umra Abhayam team reached the spot and counselled the woman.

During counselling, she said she was originally from Bihar and had met the man during a trip to Rajasthan. The man, who reportedly works for a diamond company in Surat, promised to marry her.
