The Surat City Police have achieved a major success in an intensive campaign to eliminate the illegal trafficking and retail sale of narcotic substances in the city. Special anti-narcotics wings have been formed at the district level to dismantle the network of intoxicants driving young people across Gujarat towards addiction.
As part of the campaign, local police and Anti-Narcotics Wing teams jointly carried out an operation in Sector 2 of Surat City and, within just 72 hours, uncovered five serious cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The police had mounted intensive surveillance against anti-social elements selling prohibited narcotics and intoxicating substances in small quantities and jeopardising young people's futures.
During the joint operation, the police conducted raids at various locations, seized large quantities of lethal MD drugs, mephedrone and cannabis, a plant-based intoxicating substance, and initiated legal proceedings.
6 Drug Dealers Sent to Jail with MD Drugs and Ganja Police have arrested a total of six accused persons involved in the sale and trafficking of narcotics from various areas. Ayaz Firoz Patel, Mohammad Bilal Ghulam Hussain Achha and Gopal Laxmiprasad Verma were caught red-handed within the limits of Athwa Lines police station with quantities of MD drugs and mephedrone.
