Main accused in BJP youth wing member’s murder arrested from Maharashtra

DCB Nabs Maniyo Dukkar; Total Arrests Now 14Surat: The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) arrested a wanted accused allegedly linked to the murder of 21-year-old BJP youth wing functionary Jay Dalal, from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district in Maharashtra.
Police also recovered a country-made pistol and five live cartridges from another accused in the case.
Additional commissioner of police (crime) Dr Karanraj Vaghela said a team led by DCP Bhavesh Rojiya received information that Sagar Sonawane alias Maniyo Dukkar (26), one of the main accused in the murder, was hiding in Maharashtra. He was arrested near a temple in the Kagjipura village.
Dalal was attacked on the night of May 16 and died in hospital two days later while undergoing treatment. With Sonawane’s arrest, 13 people have so far been arrested in connection with the murder case.
“Sonawane had been changing locations across states over the past four months since Dalal’s murder in May,” Vaghela said.
