Reported by Bhaskar English
The knife had penetrated 6 cm diagonally into the left side, piercing the lung and reaching the heart, bringing Nitesh in an extremely critical condition. A team of doctors immediately performed a challenging 3-hour surgery and saved Nitesh's life.
Dr. Rohan Gupta, a surgeon at Surat New Civil Hospital, stated that the patient was stabbed in the chest with a vegetable knife from home.
The knife had penetrated approximately 5 to 6 centimetres diagonally, cutting the patient's lung and reaching very close to the outer covering (membrane) of the heart. There was also a minor cut on the heart. Due to severe internal bleeding in the chest, the patient's life was in extreme danger.
He further stated that when the patient arrived at the hospital on the evening of August 10, he was in shock and no information could be obtained regarding how the incident occurred with him.
Instead of wasting time on inquiries, the team of doctors prioritised saving the patient's life. The patient was given first aid by resident doctors in the casualty department and then shifted to the operation theatre.
