This illegal discharge has severely impacted the Bamroli Tertiary Treatment Plant (TTP), forcing it to shut down temporarily and causing irregular water supply to industries in Pandesara. The authorities have now started taking strict action against the polluting units to control the situation.
Following a review of the Bamroli TTP’s situation by the Drainage Chairman, Chapatwala, legal action has been initiated against the offending units. The authorities have begun sealing connections in the Udhna zone, where the problem was most severe.
On Friday (January 3), 35 teams were formed to conduct surveys and seal connections in various affected areas, including Udhna, Pandesara GIDC, Pandesara Village, Bamroli, Bhendwad, Pramukhpark, Batliboy, Vadod Village, Bhestan, and Dindoli.
So far, drainage connections of four units have been sealed, and notices have been issued to 25 dyeing mills.
The excessive discharge of chemical water caused the Bamroli T.T.P. plant to shut down for 24 hours last Wednesday. This shutdown led to a reduction in the production of 2318 MLD (million liters per day) of water, resulting in a financial loss of 7.8 million rupees. The problem has been escalating over the past two to three months, contributing to further water production losses and affecting the water supply system.
