Reported by Indian Retailer
GemLab India has inaugurated a new gemological laboratory in Surat, Gujarat, marking its entry into the Indian market. The facility will provide testing and reporting services for diamonds, coloured gemstones and jewellery, targeting manufacturers, retailers, jewellery brands, designers and consumers.
The inauguration marks a step in the organisation's global expansion and brings its gemological testing services to Surat, a major centre for diamond processing and the gems and jewellery trade in India.
The laboratory will offer services to determine whether diamonds are natural or synthetic. According to the organisation, the facility will follow the reporting standards and professional practices adopted across the ICA | GemLab group.
The new laboratory is expected to bring testing and reporting services closer to businesses across the jewellery supply chain. Gemological reports can help industry participants access information about gemstones and make informed decisions related to sourcing, manufacturing and retail.
The facility will serve manufacturers and traders in Surat, along with jewellery retailers and brands seeking gemstone identification and reporting services.
