Heavy rain forecast in 9 districts today: Light rain in Mahisagar since morning; 3 districts on orange aler

Heavy rain is expected in South Gujarat, with some areas likely to receive very heavy rain. Heavy rain has been forecast in nine districts today. Mahisagar received light rain in the morning. Very heavy rain is expected in Navsari, Dang and Valsad tomorrow, with an orange alert in place.

According to the Meteorological Department, a low-pressure area is active over the north-western and west-central Bay of Bengal, off the coasts of Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh.

A cyclonic circulation is also active and is likely to intensify further over the next 24 hours before moving west-north-westwards. A trough extending from northern Rajasthan to the low-pressure area is also active.

In the coming days, winds are likely to reach speeds of 30 to 40 kmph, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Light to moderate rain is expected in parts of the state on September 16 and 17.

Light to moderate rain is likely in several districts of South Gujarat on September 12. Scattered rain is forecast in some districts of North Gujarat, including Ahmedabad. Some parts of Saurashtra-Kutch may also receive rain.
