Gujarat Assembly session may be held from 9-11 September: Governor likely to approve one-day deferment

Reported by Bhaskar English

The Governor had earlier summoned the Assembly session for three days from September 8. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat for an important one-day visit on September 8. To avoid any administrative and political difficulties, a proposal has been submitted to postpone the start of the session by one day.

In view of the Prime Minister’s visit and various state-level programmes, a revised schedule has been prepared to hold the Assembly session on September 9, 10 and 11 instead of September 8, 9 and 10.

A formal written proposal requesting the change has been submitted at Lok Bhavan and addressed to the Governor, with the aim of ensuring that the entire session is conducted smoothly.

The proposal seeking the revised dates is expected to receive the Governor’s approval within the next two days. After the Governor issues the formal approval order, the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Secretariat will issue an official notification confirming the change in the session schedule.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat on September 8 to attend various development projects and official programmes.
