Gross negligence by Surat Municipal Corporation: Drain water floods outside SMIMER Hospital, leaving patien

The sewage has flooded the hospital’s main entrance and surrounding roads, while an unbearable stench has spread throughout the area. Patients and their relatives arriving from distant places for treatment are now exposed to the risk of contracting serious infectious diseases even before reaching the hospital.

The overflowing drainage line has caused knee-deep sewage water to accumulate in the railway underpass near SMIMER Hospital, creating severe difficulties for pedestrians and motorists. Long traffic jams are forming throughout the day, particularly during peak hours, as people are being forced to pass through the filthy, foul-smelling water.

The accumulation of contaminated drainage water at a sensitive location such as a hospital has increased the mosquito nuisance and heightened fears of a dangerous epidemic. The situation has continued for four days, yet officials and employees of the Surat Municipal Corporation’s drainage department have still not taken any concrete action.
