'government officials should not get job extensions': Union Minister CR Patil says, ‘This practice harms the youn

He said repeated extensions in important posts in the Gujarat and Central governments can deny eligible candidates an opportunity to fill those positions.
Patil said, “I am strongly opposed to extensions being granted during the final period of government service. Granting extensions in government jobs deprives young people of their rights.”
Patil attended an employment fair organised at the Sarasana Convention Centre in Surat. Addressing the youth, he said he strongly opposed extending the service of employees at the end of their tenure.
He said it is often argued that the experience gained over 30 or 35 years of service should be utilised, but such extensions can result in a greater loss for the younger generation.
If an employee is given an extension, a young person receiving an appointment letter today effectively loses an opportunity for one year of employment.
