In view of the Chandi Padvo and Diwali festivals, the Surat Municipal Corporation's food department has launched intensive inspections across the city. Surat residents consume ghari and sweets worth crores of rupees during the festive season, so the civic body has immediately deployed 15 separate teams to ensure public health and safety. The teams have collected samples of milk mawa and ghari from around 15 production units and shops in various zones of the city. The process of sending all these samples to a laboratory for immediate quality testing has begun.
Inspections at mawa production units supplying ingredients for ghari Ghari is consumed in very large quantities by the public in Surat during the upcoming Chandi Padvo festival. Since large quantities of milk mawa are primarily used to make ghari, the inspections are being carried out under the direct instructions of the Municipal Commissioner and Chief Health Officer to prevent inedible or adulterated mawa from entering the market. Municipal teams have begun intensive inspections by making surprise visits to the major firms and factories producing mawa in the city.
