Surat: Two people were allegedly cheated of Rs 16.80 lakh by two persons who promised to arrange overseas employment and immigration documentation, including a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), for them.
According to the FIR registered at Adajan police station, the accused allegedly posed as immigration and overseas recruitment service providers and promised to arrange jobs and work permits for the victims in countries such as the UK and Canada.
They took Rs 22 lakh from two clients of Surat-based visa agent Neha Jadav on the pretext of processing employment contracts, visa documentation and other formalities.
The complainant alleges that the accused — Rohit Singh Sogara and Hina Sura — ran a firm named Achieve International in the Malad area of Mumbai. The accused gained her confidence by presenting themselves as authorised overseas immigration service providers. They allegedly used forged documents, including fake CoS letters, to convince victims that their overseas employment arrangements were genuine.
One client of the complainant got banned for 10 years after a fake CoS letter was discovered, while another client’s letter also proved to be fake.
