Fake Cooking Oil Manufacturing Unit Busted in Surat, Goods Worth ₹20 Lakh Seized

The Gandhinagar CID Crime branch raided a suspected factory in Surat district allegedly producing adulterated and counterfeit cooking oil using containers carrying labels of established brands.

During the raid, officials found oil being filled into containers bearing stickers of Sun Plus, Saurashtra Groundnut Oil and Pal Groundnut Oil.

The operation allegedly involved preparing and packaging the oil for sale under these brand names, raising concerns over product authenticity and consumer safety.

The CID Crime team seized finished oil and equipment allegedly used in the manufacturing process. The total value of the seized material is estimated at more than ₹20 lakh.

Further legal proceedings have been initiated, with investigators probing the source of the raw material, the distribution network and whether the counterfeit products had already entered the market.
