The association said the government had failed to take any satisfactory decision on the employees’ long-standing issues and has sent a written notice to the Chief Minister and the Revenue Minister regarding the proposed protest.
According to association president Bipin Boriya and general secretary H. J. Patel, the issues concerning employees of the department, which generates substantial revenue through registration fees, have remained unresolved for the past three years. The association has also alleged that despite making representations, the concerned officials have not allotted time for a meeting or dialogue.
Problems have increased because some new circulars relating to document registration are not consistent with legal provisions. These unclear circulars are causing serious difficulties not only for employees but also for applicants, builders, farmers and lawyers who come for document registration.
The association's key demands include stopping the issuance of notices and charge sheets based on audit objections, cancelling complicated circulars and making the necessary improvements to the Garvi 2.0 portal. It has also demanded an end to the practice of directly registering FIRs against sub-registrars and a reduction in appointment token slots.
