The neglected indoor landscaping presents an embarrassing contrast to the image of an international gateway serving one of Gujarat’s biggest commercial hubs. Instead of creating a welcoming atmosphere, lifeless plants and poorly maintained decorative pots leave passengers questioning whether basic upkeep has taken a back seat.
In several planters, thermocol balls or similar artificial filler material are reportedly visible on the surface, adding to the shabby appearance. What should have enhanced the terminal’s ambience has instead become a visible reminder of alleged maintenance lapses.
An airport is the first impression visitors get of a city. Dead plants and neglected planters inside a modern terminal do not reflect well on Surat. Basic maintenance should not be such a difficult task,” a passenger said.
Another passenger questioned the apparent lack of improvement despite complaints. “When passengers see the same problems repeatedly, they begin to wonder whether anyone is checking these facilities. If the plants cannot be maintained properly, the authorities should replace them or remove the pots,” the passenger said.
