At Raj Textile Market on Plot No. 69, a passage had been covered illegally. After the market operators failed to respond to two notices, the civic team demolished the 800-square-foot covered passage on the second floor on Thursday (24 Sept).
An administrative charge of ₹60,000 was also recovered from the property owner. At Salasar Market on Plot No. 50/B, the property owners voluntarily demolished an illegally constructed tin shed on the terrace after receiving a notice.
The operation was carried out by a team of engineers and 30 labourers under the guidance of the deputy commissioner and executive engineer.
The municipal corporation also removed encroachments along the main road from Kabutar Circle towards the Dumbhal fire station. Illegal structures and obstructions created by pavement vendors, pushcart vendors and stall operators were removed, clearing the entire road for traffic.
