Bhilwara: Chittorgarh police late Monday night arrested six men allegedly planning to kill A-category history-sheeter Chirag Khatik. Cops seized a country-made pistol, a revolver with four live cartridges, sharp-edged weapons and two cars from them.
The arrests were made in a joint operation by Rashmi police and District Special Team (DST) after police received information that a gang led by Rahul Khatik was looking for Chirag, who has 16 criminal cases registered against him.
Chittorgarh SP Dharmendra Singh said DST ASI Suraj Kumar alerted Rashmi SHO Gehri Lal Gurjar that the gang, armed with weapons, could reach Rashmi town to target Chirag.
Police raided Rahul Khatik’s house in Rashmi and arrested Rahul Khatik, Ajay Bharwad, Chirag Yadav, Faizan Usmani, Ravindra and Rahul Kir. The accused included two residents of Rashmi and four from Surat, Gujarat.
Preliminary questioning suggested the planned murder was linked to a rivalry for supremacy, police said.
