Bhaskar Analysis: Daman gets flight connectivity, but Surat doesn’t; Ahmedabad-Daman-Mumbai flight service

Residents and stakeholders have suggested that an Ahmedabad-Surat-Mumbai or Surat-Daman-Mumbai service could also be introduced.

Surat already has international connectivity to destinations including Sharjah, Dubai and Bangkok, while air traffic is expected to grow further.

Mumbai remains a key destination for the city's diamond, textile and corporate sectors, strengthening the demand for a direct Surat-Mumbai service.

For years, local leaders have approached the Centre and the Ministry of Civil Aviation seeking the resumption of direct flights between Surat and Mumbai.

However, no decision has been taken so far. With Daman now getting a new connection, stakeholders are again demanding similar air connectivity for Surat.
