The Meteorological Department has forecast completely dry weather across all districts of Gujarat, as well as Diu, Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, for the next seven days. No heavy rainfall is expected during this period.
Gujarat has recorded an average rainfall deficit of 11% so far this monsoon season, while Saurashtra and Kutch have recorded a 24% deficit. With the monsoon withdrawal progressing, the chances of rain are now declining and the weather is gradually turning dry.
According to Meteorological Department scientist Ramashray Yadav, a strong El Niño system is currently active and its effects may continue until the end of the year. Its impact is expected to keep temperatures above normal in October.
