Ahmedabad woman accuses Mumbai-based husband of years of abuse
Reported by The Times of India
Ahmedabad: A 41-year-old woman from Ahmedabad has lodged a complaint against her Mumbai-based husband, alleging that he subjected her to years of physical and mental harassment, repeatedly abused her and their children, and maintained inappropriate relationships with several women employed in his businesses.
According to a complaint registered with Women East Police on Friday, the woman married in 2004 and shifted to Mumbai after the wedding. The couple has two children, a 21-year-old son pursuing a BTech degree in Scotland and a 20-year-old daughter studying BBA in Mumbai.
The complainant stated that her husband operates a nursing bureau that supplies nurses and caretakers to patients and also runs boys‘ and girls‘ hostels in Mumbai. She alleged that around 85 to 90 young women worked in these establishments and claimed that her husband had inappropriate relationships with several of them.
The woman alleged that despite tolerating his behaviour for years in an effort to save the marriage and helping him manage his businesses, her husband frequently quarrelled with her over minor issues, verbally abused both her and the children, and physically assaulted her.
She further alleged that her husband often verbally abused their daughter, prompting the latter to move into a paying guest accommodation near her college in Mumbai.
